HTML5 Format Guides

  • Use default custom template ad variable settings except for the ones listed below by format
  • Expanding format must be click to expand. Expansion by rollover is not allowed unless an exception is granted by MSN.
  • Audio is allowed on user-initiation only. Audio can automatically play on a user expand
  • Make sure all clickthroughs including default have “Close Ad Parts” unchecked
  • Do NOT specify the full URL path of custom scripts and just use the script name. This will allow the scripts to serve securely when the placement is set to secure.
  • If sending secure (HTTPS) tags, the developer will need to make sure the path of the EBLoader.js file is either dynamic or secure, depending on implementation.
  • The Responsive Billboard and Responsive Header use the same custom format. Different Ad Variable settings are used to alter their behavior. Refer to the specific details below and review the Settings Guide at the bottom of this page for more information.
  • Viewability is currently not supported in Billboard and Custom Header formats.

PL_HTML5ImmersiveSkin_beta_PluginScript_AOL_Cert_31_10_2016.js

Configuring in Platform

  1. In the Sizmek platform, open an Ad, go to the Setup tab.
  2. Select the Advanced Features section, and expand the Custom JS section
  3. Cut and paste the required scripts into the text field labeled “Trigger JavaScript on Scripts Pre-load”
  4. Only use the script file name. The full path should not be used so that the platform can serve it through https.
  5. Multiple scripts can be added by separating each script with a semi-colon.
  6. When you are done, click the Save button.

NOTE: When using only the filename the Test URL button will not work. This is a platform issue and does not indicate there is an problem with the script.

Flash Format Support

Ads built to run on MSFT should default to HTML5, but if there is a situation in which Flash is required please reach out to AOLSupport@sizmek.com for additional build information.
