Ensuring Secure Serving (SSL Compliance)

Yahoo! require SSL compliant ads. Please review the following in your ad to ensure it is fully SSL compliant:

  • If using Custom JS under Advanced Settings, do NOT specify the full URL path of custom scripts and just use the script name.

Example: use 'html5_pushdown_banner.js' and not ''

  • Confirm secure versions of all scripts in the index.html file are secure. For template specific scripts, the path should be:

In the cases of the EBLoader.js file, the proper path should be

  • Most third party scripts like JQuery and Greensock have secure file locations. Also many of these scripts are hosted by Sizmek. See the full list here

SafeFrame Information

From the IAB – “The SafeFrame 1.0 technology is a managed API-enabled iFrame that opens a line of communication between the publisher page content and the iFrame-contained external content, such as ads. Because of this line of communication, content served into a SafeFrame is afforded data collection and rich interaction, such as ad expansion, that is unavailable in a standard iFrame.

To avoid disruptive ad behavior and the potential security risks of serving ads inline with the page, publishers may choose to have ad content served into an iFrame.”

In other words, a SafeFrame is an iFrame with a specific API the publisher implements into their page so they don’t have to use any server-side files to allow expandable ads to break out of iFrames, etc.

Full IAB documentation on SafeFrames can be found here:  This document explains the capabilities and limitations of SafeFrames.

Yahoo! SafeFrame Test Page:

Limitations of SafeFrames

  1. Create iFrame tags will NOT work. Use script tags only
  2. Synching ads or scraping page content into the ads will not work
  3. Floating ads are not supported at this time
  4. Click To Fullscreen is not supported at this time

Configuring Custom Scripts

Custom Scripts must be configured in the Sizmek platform for all ads that support them.

Configuring in Platform

  1. In the Sizmek platform, open an Ad, go to the Setup tab.
  2. Select the Advanced Features section, and expand the Custom JS section
  3. Cut and paste the required scripts into the text field labeled “Trigger JavaScript on Scripts Pre-load”
  4. Multiple scripts can be added by separating each script with a semi-colon.
  5. When you are done, click the Save button.
