Summary

Smart versioning ad with dynamic images built using MDX Workshop. The ad is built to re-scale the image to the size of the movie clip slot when the ad is rendered. When the ad is previewed locally using the workshop preview button, the image is perfectly re-scaled as expected. However when the ad is previewed on the MDX platform, the re-scaling doesn’t work. Neither does it work when ad-served.

Environment

  • MDX 2.0

Required information

  • Ad ID
  • Version ID

Solution

  • The cause of the issue is missing of cross-domain file in the server of the imageThe images are being hosted on a 3rd party server and are injected into the ad through an xml feed. As a result, when the ad is previewed from the platform or when it’s ad-served, the server hosting the images is contacted to retrieve the image to display. But this is failing silently due to there being no crossdomain.xml policy file on the server hosting the images.When previewing the ad using the workshop, the image is fetched from the user’s local machine and therefore does not breach the flash security policy.
  • Add crossdomain.xml file to the server hosting the images that are fed into the ad.

    Example content of cross domain file:

    <?xml version=”1.0″?>

    <!DOCTYPE cross-domain-policy SYSTEM “http://www.macromedia.com/xml/dtds/cross-domain-policy.dtd”>

    <cross-domain-policy>

    <allow-access-from domain=”*” />

    </cross-domain-policy>
