Peer39 provides classification results in the Short Response format. This section summarizes the purpose of each element in the Short Response format.

Short Response Structure

VERSION#RT;LNGCODE#CID:SCORE;CID:SCORE#ADCOUNT#VIEWABILITY#

Short Response Example

004#0;en#7794:100;7890:63;7891:63;7906:64;12931:64;#4-6;1:A,7:C#

Note

Note: Periodically, Peer39 will add new data attributes to the offering, and these will most often be released as new Categories. Peer39 recommends building your application in a way that allows for easy:

  • Addition of new categories.

  • Potential modification of existing categories such as updating or revising naming convention.

  • Removal of old or undesired categories.

Short Response

Data Element

Description

Version

(Response Version)

VERSION#RT;LNGCODE#CID:SCORE;CID:SCORE#ADCOUNT#VIEWABILITY#

Response VERSION represents the Short Response format version in use. This allows for clients to be upgraded to a new version without affecting their code, enabling clients to make the transition on their own timetable.

Syntax example:

004#RT;LNGCODE#CID:SCORE;CID:SCORE#ADCOUNT;VIEWABILITY#

RT

(Response Type)

VERSION#RT;LNGCODE#CID:SCORE;CID:SCORE#ADCOUNT# VIEWABILITY#

Response Type indicates the classification status of the response.

  • 0 = Final Classification

  • 1 = Error

  • 2 = Pending or FirstLook Classification

Syntax example:

VERSION#0;LNGCODE#CID:SCORE;CID:SCORE#ADCOUNT;VIEWABILITY#

Note: For Batch FTP implementations, RT will always be 0.

LNGCODE

(Language Code)

VERSION#RT;LNGCODE#CID:SCORE;CID:SCORE#ADCOUNT#VIEWABILITY#

The Language Code identifies the language of the page's content.

Syntax example:

VERSION#RT;en#CID:SCORE;CID:SCORE#ADCOUNT;VIEWABILITY#

Peer39 can identify pages in 40 languages. For cases in which Peer39 is unable to identify a language, it uses an unknown language indicator - ‘Unknown LNGCODE = 00’.

CID

(Category ID)

VERSION#RT;LNGCODE#CID:SCORE;CID:SCORE#ADCOUNT#VIEWABILITY#

Category ID is the numerical value that represents a specific Peer39 category or attribute.

Syntax example:

VERSION#RT;LNGCODE#12345:SCORE;678910:SCORE#ADCOUNT;VIEWABILITY#

Category IDs are specific to each client account and are mapped to their corresponding category names according to the account taxonomy.

A single URL can be classified with multiple category IDs; these category IDs represent the most relevant categories based on the page's content and a minimum relevance score of 60.

Note: In a single short response, Peer39 can include multiple category IDs with their associated relevance scores (CID:SCORE).

SCORE

(Relevance Score)

VERSION#RT;LNGCODE#CID:SCORE;CID:SCORE#ADCOUNT#VIEWABILITY#

The Relevance Score represents the relevancy of the Peer39 category to the page.*

Scores range from 60 to 100; Peer39 sets a minimum category relevancy score threshold of 60 for a category to be considered accurately relevant to the page.

Syntax example:

VERSION#RT;LNGCODE#CID:90;CID:63#ADCOUNT;VIEWABILITY#

Note:

  • Relevance Scores are only meaningful and applicable for Contextual Content categories (Automotive, Business, Careers, etc.) and “Negative” Safety categories.

  • Relevance Scores for Quality, Internet, Fraud, Weather, Mobile App, and “Safe From” Safety categories have no intrinsic value or direct application and should not be utilized. Quality, Internet, Fraud, Weather, Mobile App, and “Safe From” Safety categories are BINARY in logic and have a true/false application. Relevance Scores for these categories are static and are only present in the classification response in order to adhere to response format and structure.

  • We recommend using ALL categories that are returned in the classification response, regardless of relevance score, in order to preserve coverage and maintain scale.

Note: In a single short response, Peer39 can include multiple category IDs with their associated relevance scores (CID:SCORE).

ADCOUNT

(Ad Stats*)

VERSION#RT;LNGCODE#CID:SCORE;CID:SCORE#ADCOUNT;VIEWABILITY#

Ad Count indicates the number of ads on the page.

The possible values passed for Ad Count are:

  • 1-3: LOW number of ads

  • 4-6: for MEDIUM number of ads

  • 7+: for HIGH number of ads

Syntax example:

VERSION#RT;LNGCODE#CID:SCORE;CID:SCORE#4-6;1:A,3:B#

Note:

  • *Peer39 can return Ad Stats, both Ad Count and Viewability, as Category IDs (CID) instead of parameters. Returning Ad Stats as Category IDs is recommended and preferred, and results in the following syntax:

    VERSION#RT;LNGCODE#CID:SCORE;CID:SCORE##

  • Ad Count considers only the standard ad sizes: 728x90, 300x250, and 160x600.

  • Ad Count is based on probability and statistically derived.

  • Ad Count value may also be omitted resulting in the following syntax:

    VERSION#RT;LNGCODE#CID:SCORE;CID:SCORE#;1:A,3:B,7:B#

VIEWABILITY

(Ad Stats*)

VERSION#RT;LNGCODE#CID:SCORE;CID:SCORE#ADCOUNT;VIEWABILITY#

Viewability indicates the probability of an ad being seen, according to its location on the page in relation to the fold.

The page receives a viewability value for an individual ad size or for the overall page:

  • 1: 300x250

  • 3: 728x60

  • 5: 160x600

  • 7: Overall Page

The letters below indicate the likelihood of viewability:

  • A: High (80% and above probability)

  • B: Medium (60% and above probability)

  • C: Low (30% or less probability)

Syntax example:

VERSION#RT;LNGCODE#CID:SCORE;CID:SCORE#4-6;1:A,3:B,7:B#
