The Sizmek Tag Manager is a tool used to deploy, manage, and update all the digital marketing tags without having to constantly update the advertiser website’s code.

Tag Manager provides another layer of abstraction for managing the complexity of large websites.

  • Simple: Significant simplification to deployment and management of advertising tags.

  • Agility: Reduced reliance on technical resources and reduced dependency on IT cycles confers greater agility to business users.

  • Performance: Reduced page load times thanks to asynchronous tag loading, conditional tag loading, and tag timeout functionality.

  • Cost savings: Fewer people involved and less developer’s time.

  • Data control: Ability to control data leakage to 3rd parties.

How Does It Work?

A best practice for implementing the Tag Manager code is to perform a single deployment; the code is placed in a standard location (usually either the top or bottom of the <Body> section) within the web page (or templates of the site’s Content Management System (CMS)).

After placing the code, all new conversion, retargeting, and 3rd party tags can be managed easily within the Tag Manager user interface (UI). The UI gives the tag administrator the power to control when and where tags fire. There should be no further need to touch the website in order to implement additional tags or tag modifications.

Without a tag manager, multiple tags are placed in the code for multiple pages.

With a tag manager, multiple tags are mapped to one tag manager, and it is placed in the web page code.
