Assets (image, video) used to create Ads in the Ad Builder can not be updated via AAS assets library. To replace or update Ad Builder assets, you need to reopen your Ads in the Ad Builder and follow this procedure:
-
Make sure to give a new name to the file you want to update, as assets should have a unique name.
-
From AAS Ad list, click on Edit and open your Ad in Ad Builder.
-
Select your old asset on the main stage of Ad Builder.
-
In the Properties pane, next to the Select/Upload field, click on the Upload button.
-
Upload the new version of your asset, and select it as the new source for your image or video component.
-
Delete the old asset from your asset library if you don't need it anymore.
-
Save your Ad.
You can group multiple components in Ad Builder into a dedicated group. Working with groups allows you to simultaneously perform tasks on multiple components.
Select New > New Group to create a group within banners or panels in the Layers pane. You can then drag layers to the group. You can move the group around the stage as an independent entity, and simultaneously set actions and animations to all the components in the group.
-
New groups are initially labeled as Group[#] in the Layers pane. You can rename the group in the Properties pane.
-
You cannot delete a group that contains components. To delete a group, in the Layers pane, drag all the components out of the group, and proceed to delete the group.
You can group or ungroup components using one of the following methods:
-
Use the Ad Builder keyboard shortcuts:
-
Ctrl+G (PC) /Cmd+G (Mac): Groups the components.
-
Ctrl+Shift+G (PC)/Cmd+Shift+G (Mac): Ungroups the components
-
-
Select multiple components, and select Group or Ungroup from the right-click menu.
A sequence of actions within a trigger event is called an interaction. You can define an interaction to run in a repetitive loop.
-
Select an event on your component.
-
In the Actions and Animations pane, select the loop option for this event.
-
Once: Runs the interaction once. This is the default value.
-
Forever: Runs the interaction in a repetitive loop.
-
Other: Runs the interaction according to your preference. In the Repeat Interaction dialog box, you can specify the number of times to repeat the loop.
-
It is recommended that an efficient animation should not run in an endless loop; rather, it should run a number of times, and then lead to a packshot with a call to action. Check your publisher specifications to verify the maximum duration to apply.
-
The loop feature does not apply to the Expand and Collapse actions.
-
An interaction is repeated only after it has completed the first run.
-
An interaction that is set to repeat several times is displayed a single time when using the Play button. If you want to ensure that the loop works correctly, use the Preview button instead.
In Ad Builder, when duplicating (right-click > Duplicate) a component that has events and actions, the duplicate component also includes a copy of the associated events and actions. If you do not need the events and actions in the duplicate component, remember to delete them; however, if you want to keep them, this duplication streamlines your workflow.
For example, if you want to add a rotation to the wheels of a car, apply these steps to the side view of the car:
-
Create a rotation on the first wheel, and fine tune the animation options until you are satisfied.
-
Set the target to _Self.
-
Duplicate this component and use it for the other visible wheel. The animation will be similar to the first wheel.
It is recommended that you follow these best practices when your creative includes a video.
-
Make your video clickable while allowing access to the media controls:
-
Reorder your layers to ensure that the main hotspot (#1 in the image) is not covering your video component, and the controls (such as play and mute) remain accessible to the user.
-
Add an additional hotspot (#2 in the image) on top of the video to make it clickable. For the hotspot dimensions, use the same dimensions as the component.
-
Subtract a few pixels from the bottom (for example, 20 px) so that the user can still access the video controls (#1 in the image).
-
Make sure that you add a tap/click event and a click-through action to your additional hotspot.
-
-
On the Tap/Click event type for all hotspots, add an action that pauses the video. This ensures the following:
-
Users are redirected to the landing page, and will no longer hear sound from the video.
-
The video itself stops using the device resources.
