Creating the ad

Set up your project

Once your template opens, the Layer pane displays a master banner and one or more panels are generated, depending on whether you selected an expandable.

The following images show an example of the Ad Builder interface displaying the various panes that are available when creating an ad. Refer to these images and tables to get familiar with steps you should perform every time you create an Adhesion ad in Ad Builder.

Master banner

Adhesion is served from a 1x1 banner. There is no need to edit the master banner.

Master_Banner: Placeholder for your ad’s content. The content is not shown; you do not need to add your assets here.

2

Save: It is recommended to save your ad to secure your settings and generate an Ad ID.

3

Ad Name: The advertiser or media agency may have provided you with a naming convention that you should use to name your ad. If not, use a name that describes the creative. For example, advertiser-campaign_name-dimensions → amazon-back_to_school_970x250.

4

On Load: An event that uses the Expand action to automatically expand the targeted panel, banner. This is the main banner functionality; you can change the duration and the easing of the effect. You should not remove this event.

7

Stage Border (Optional): Most publishers require a border on HTML creatives. Refer to your specifications plan to confirm that a border is required. If you do not have this information, you should add a border.

8

On Load: An event that allows you to animate the elements of your banner panel after the panel expands.

UserAction (Optional): Button to track any additional users interaction that does not open a new browser window.

13

ClickThrough: A customizable button commonly called a Call-to-action (CTA) button. Alternatively, you can delete the ClickThrough button and make your banner entirely clickable, by using the Hotspot component to add a click-through overlay.

14

Video (Optional): Allows you to customize the Video component, and use your own video. If a video is not required, delete this component.

Customizations

Removing the video component

Procedure
  • Perform the following steps for each button:

    1. In the Layers pane, click the button.

    2. In the Actions & Animations pane, view the events, and remove the Pause: video container action on the Tap/Click event.

Modifying the close button

You can modify the close button in the Properties pane:

  • If you replace the default close button with your own design, make sure you apply the Collapse action. Go to the Actions & Animations pane, and add the Collapse action, targeting the expand panel.

  • If your expand contains a video, it is recommended you do the following:

    1. Select Video Actions: Pause. The pause action ensures that the video will pause before the panel collapses. It is best to add a short delay, (200 ms), after the Pause action, and before initiating the Collapse action.

    2. Select a video target.

Saving as a reusable template

Note

Note: These instructions are not part of the mandatory procedure. You can use them to create a reusable template if required.

Clicking the arrow next to the Save button and selecting Save as template enables you to save your layout as a template. This template will be available for all users in your account, and can speed up your workflow the next time you build an Adhesion.

Adding components and animations to your ad

Now that the essentials of your creative are set, you can start creating and animating the content. For more information, see the following:
