Note: To learn more about this format or to see build guides for other authoring tools, see About Billboard. Billboard in the Ad Builder does not support responsiveness and cannot remember the last panel seen. If you need one of these capabilities, see Create a Billboard in a Code Editor. For an overview of Sizmek Ad Suite (SAS) Ad Builder, see Introduction to Ad Builder.

Selecting the Ad Format

  1. Click New Ad > Ad Builder.

    Ad Builder opens.

  2. Select Template Gallery.

    1. From Formats, select Billboard.

    2. Click Create from the Basic Billboard version to create a new instance of the template.

Creating the Ad

The following images show an example of the Ad Builder interface, displaying the various options that are available when creating an ad. Refer to these images and the following tables to familiarize yourself with elements that you can use every time you create a Billboard in Ad Builder.

Master Banner

The Master Banner is the placeholder for your panel's content. The content is not shown; you do not need to add your assets here.

It is recommended to save your ad to secure your settings and generate an Ad ID.

Use the Properties pane:

  • In the Ad Name field, type a name.

Note: The advertiser or media agency may have provided you with a naming convention that you should use to name your ad. If not, use a name that describes the creative. For example, advertiser-campaign_name-dimensions → amazon_back-to-school_970x250.

  • Confirm that the ad width (W) is equal to the width of the Leavebehind panel.

The On Load event expands the billboard panel and pushes down the website content automatically using the Action Pushdown. This is the main billboard functionality; you can change the duration and the easing of the effect, but do not remove it.

Billboard Panel

The Billboard panel displays the main ad content during the expanded state.

In the Properties pane: On Load event, check step 4 at Master_Banner above.

  • The Instance Name is the panel name.

  • Duplicate the dimensions as for the Master_Banner.

(Optional) Add a border. Most publishers require a border for HTML ads. Refer to your specifications plan to confirm that a border is required. If you do not have this information, you should add a border.

(Optional) Animate the elements of the billboard panel after the expansion by adding On Load events.

Customize the Close button. The actions upon Tap/Click should contain Collapse : billboard and Expand : leave-behind.

Customize the ClickThrough button, commonly called Call-To-Action.

If you delete it and prefer to make your banner entirely clickable, in the Components pane, click Hotspot to add a click-through button. This button creates a transparent overlay that makes your ad clickable. In the Properties pane, set the width and height to match your ad, and set the X and Y coordinates to 0. Remember to always put a Close button in front of the other elements/components/objects.

(Optional) Tracks any additional user interaction that does not open a new browser window.

(Optional) Customize the Video component by replacing it with the required video. If your ad does not require a video, you can delete this component.

Leavebehind Panel

The Leavebehind panel is the Show Ad button when the ad is collapsed.

You can customize the ShowAd button and refer to your specifications plan to confirm the dimensions.

Save as a Reusable Template

Note: These instructions are not part of the mandatory procedure. You can use them to create a reusable template if required.

Clicking the arrow next to Save, and selecting Save as template enables you to save your layout as a template. This template will be available for all users in your account, and can speed up your workflow the next time you build a Billboard.

Adding Components and Animations to Your Ad

Now that the essentials of your creative are set, you can start creating and animating the content. For more information, see the following :
