Determining Your Ad Format

To select a workflow that matches your specific requirements, you must decide which ad format you want to build and, if it is an HTML format, which authoring tool you will use to build your ad.

Since ad format names in the advertising industry are not always unified, you need to determine which Sizmek Ad Suite (SAS) ad format is equivalent to the type of creative you are building.

Creatives are either HTML based, or non-HTML (image, video, or audio). Check your media plan/specification plan that the media agency or advertiser provided, and use it to match the requested ads to the SAS ad formats.

Creating and Setting up Ads

Non-HTML Creatives

Use this process when your creatives do not include HTML and are based on a media file (image, In-Stream video, In-Stream audio):

  1. Set up: Configure your ad in SAS:

  2. Share: Make your ads available to your media agency/advertiser.

HTML Creatives

When building an HTML creative, the ad must be compatible with SAS. This ensures that events the creatives include, such as clicking, playing an integrated video, or expanding a panel, are fired and tracked correctly.

You can use Ad Builder, the SAS authoring tool, or select an authoring tool such as a code editor or Adobe Animate.

SAS Ad Builder

Ad Builder is the SAS online authoring tool. It allows you to create ads that are natively compatible with SAS without the need for coding. You configure your ad and build your animation directly in Ad Builder . Events are automatically implemented. For more information, see Introduction to Ad Builder.

3rd Party Authoring Tool

When using a 3rd party authoring tool, such as a code editor or Adobe Animate, follow the build guides to ensure that events are set up to fire correctly. Once this setup is complete, you zip and upload the exported files to SAS. The zipped creative is called a Workspace. Each creative needs its own Workspace, and must also include a default image. We recommend that you use a default image that is optimized and lightweight.

Use this process to build HTML creatives:

  1. Create: Build and animate the content of the HTML creative in your authoring tool.

  2. Set up: Configure your ad in SAS and make sure events are fired in the preview page.

  3. Share: Make your ads available to your media agency/advertiser.

For more information about build guides and downloadable templates for each ad format, see List of Ad Formats .

Sharing Ads

Regardless of the ad format or the authoring tool, every ad you build in SAS resides only in your account. If you are not trafficking the campaign, make your ads available to the media account (media agency/advertiser) that is managing the campaign. Sharing is identical for every type of ad and is usually done last, after your ads are complete.
