Advanced Ad Formats

Advanced formats may require more investment from the developer, but will yield a more unique experience for the user. These formats include responsive formats and formats that offer an expanding feature. It is strongly recommended that, before production, you confirm that these ads comply with your publisher or media. For more information, see About Publisher Certifications.

  • Adaptive: Adaptive units support a number of different fixed sizes. They scale proportionally and always maintain the same ratio.

  • Responsive: Responsive units, expressed in percentage, scale either in width, height, or both, depending on the available space of their container.

  • Expanding: Most of the time, expanding units include of at least two panels (HTML files). They can either be a small creative that expands into a larger one (for example, 300 x 250 expanding into 300 x 600), or a pixel that expands into a creative (1x1 expanding into a responsive interstitial).

Publisher Certification

You may need to check feasibility of the advanced ad formats with publisher’s websites before considering building your ad. Reach out to your local Creative support contact to see if the format is already certified for your publisher. If not, certification will be performed by our Publisher Certification team on your request.
