Selecting the Ad Format

Procedure
  1. Click New Ad > Ad Builder.

    Ad Builder opens.

  2. Select Template Gallery.

    • Create Blank Ad:

      1. Give your ad a meaningful name.

        Note

        Note: The advertiser or media agency may have provided you with a naming convention that you should use to name your ad. If not, use a name that describes the creative. For example, advertiser-campaign_name-dimensions → amazon-back_to_school-300x250.

      2. For Format, select expandable banner.

      3. Select the dimensions for your ad and for your expandable panel.

    • Template Gallery:

      1. Select a template with the required format and size.

      2. Click Create to create a new instance of the template.

Creating the Ad

The following images shows an example of the Ad Builder interface displaying the various panes that are available when creating an ad. Refer to these images and the tables to get familiar with actions you should perform every time you create an ad in Ad Builder.

Note: The expandable banner is composed of one master banner and one additional panel that appear in the Layer pane. Both need to be made clickable.

The events and actions used in the following procedure describes how to make the creative expandable when clicking on the Master Banner hotspot. Clicking the Close button in the panel will collapse the ad again. A click on the Panel hotspot will redirect the user to the landing page.

The settings icon enables you to verify that the ad format is defined correctly.

Allows you to define the default image, which must have the same dimensions as the Master Banner. You cannot save your work until you define this field.

It is recommended to save your ad to secure your settings and generate an Ad ID.

In the Components pane, the Hotspot allows you to add a click-through button. This button creates a transparent overlay that makes your Master Banner clickable. Use the Properties pane to set the width and height to match your ad, and set the X and Y coordinates to 0.

In the Actions and Animations pane, click Create New Event and select Tap/Click as the event type.

Add an Expand action to ensure that the entire hotspot will expand the Panel.

(Optional) Hide and lock the Hotspot layer. Afterwards, you can create animation layers without being distracted by the hotspot.

(Optional) Set a URL. This is a temporary URL for testing purposes. This URL will be overwritten by the media agency, which will define the final URL at the campaign level.

(Optional) Add a border. Most publishers require a border on HTML creatives. Refer to your specifications plan to confirm that a border is required. If you do not have this information, you should add a border.

The Button component enables you to create a Close button.

Note: Use the component and event that is most appropriate for your ad. You should confirm that there is a click-through event to redirect the user to the landing page.

In the Actions and Animations pane, use Create New Event and select Tap/Click as the event type.

The Collapse action ensures that the button will collapse the panel.

Save as a Reusable Template

Note

Note: These instructions are not part of the mandatory procedure. You can use them to create a reusable template if required.

Clicking the arrow next to Save and selecting Save as template enables you to save your layout as a template. This template will be available for all users in your account, and can speed up your workflow the next time you build a expandable banner.
